Plus UI Reaches End of Life

Plus UI discontinued as of May 6, 2025. No updates or support. Read about the reasons, challenges, and future of the template here.

Today, we're sharing an important update about the future of the Plus UI Blogger Template — a product many of you have come to know, trust, and use in your personal or professional blogs. As of May 6, 2025, Plus UI has officially reached its end of life (EOL). This means active development has stopped, and we will no longer provide updates, support, or new features.

This blog post is written to explain the reasons behind the decision, what it means for existing and future users, and how we'll proceed going forward. We believe in transparency, and our users deserve to know the full picture.

The Journey So Far

Plus UI began as a passion project — an effort to modernize the Blogger platform and give users a feature-rich, fast, and customizable experience. At a time when Blogger themes felt outdated and clunky, we aimed to bring a refreshing change with professional-level design and functionality.

Over time, Plus UI introduced a number of innovations: built-in PWA support, native dark mode, elegant layouts, and a host of performance optimizations. It quickly became one of the most recognized Blogger templates available.

With every update, we listened to feedback, patched bugs, and pushed for even greater improvements — not just for looks but for performance and usability. However, with growth came increased responsibility and complexity.

Why We're Discontinuing Plus UI

After much thought, we made the tough decision to discontinue the template. This wasn't spontaneous — it came after years of balancing updates, user support, and product management.

Here are the key reasons:

  • Changing Priorities: Over time, our personal and professional responsibilities have shifted. We now find ourselves unable to dedicate the time and focus needed to maintain and improve the template.
  • Sustainability: While Plus UI gained a strong following, maintaining the template at a high standard required more time and consistent effort than we could realistically manage — especially as a small, independent team. Continuing development without adequate time and focus would have compromised quality, which we've always aimed to uphold.
  • Resource Limitations: Most purchases were made during the early releases when the template was available at a lower price. While that early support helped Plus UI grow, the revenue model wasn't designed to sustain long-term development and support. As the user base expanded, it became harder to keep up with ongoing demands using the limited time and resources available.
  • Design Inspiration and Copying Accusations: Plus UI was heavily inspired by Median UI, which influenced many aspects of its layout and design. Naturally, this led to frequent comparisons and accusations of copying by some users. While inspiration and similarities exist, Plus UI was developed independently with its own features and goals. Drawing from popular design trends is common, especially in niche platforms like Blogger, and our focus was always on creating a practical, user-friendly template rather than replicating another product.
  • Piracy Challenges: Like many digital products, Plus UI faced piracy over time. While this is a common reality in the web development space, it did contribute to challenges in sustaining the project financially. We understand that this comes with creating digital products, but it's one of several factors that influenced our decision.
  • Support and Community Needs: We've always valued the feedback, questions, and feature requests from our users. Every message meant a lot, and we're grateful for the trust you placed in us. However, over time it became clear that we couldn't keep up with the growing needs of a large and diverse user base while still maintaining the quality and responsiveness you deserve. Rather than stretch beyond our capacity and fall short, we've chosen to step back with honesty and respect.
  • Platform Constraints: Blogger, as a platform, has seen minimal innovation in recent years. That limited the scope of what we could do, despite our desire to keep pushing the boundaries.

The decision to stop development was not easy. We've done our best to build something useful and reliable, but continuing without the time and resources required would have affected its quality — and that’s something we wanted to avoid for our users.

Still Available — But Sold As-Is

Though development has stopped, Plus UI remains available for purchase for those who still want to use it in its current form.

Here's what this means:

  • The template is sold as-is — what you see is what you get.
  • No further updates will be released.
  • No support or troubleshooting assistance will be provided.
  • No bug fixes, compatibility patches, or new features will be added.

If you're planning to buy the template now, please proceed only if you're fully comfortable using it without expecting any future improvements or help.

What About Existing Customers?

If you purchased Plus UI before its discontinuation on May 6, 2025, you can continue using the template.

We truly appreciate your support throughout the journey. You'll retain access to the final version and any documentation that was available up to the discontinuation date.

However, we will no longer:

  • Offer personalized help or email support
  • Fix any bugs that arise after the last release
  • Ensure compatibility with future changes to the Blogger platform

Closing Thoughts

Discontinuing Plus UI marks the end of an important chapter for us. While the template will no longer evolve, it lives on in the many blogs still running it proudly.

We made this decision with transparency, care, and the long-term health of both the product and its creators in mind. We hope the community understands and respects this choice.

Thank you for being with us — through the highs and lows, the feedback and fixes, and the countless lines of code that turned an idea into something real.
